This summer show, Arizona! (©Angela Cook, June 2005) [similarity to the slightly better known Oklahoma! purely intentional] had the subtitle Who Shot the Sheriff II, so cue all the hugely enjoyable ‘Wild West’ stereotypes. My character was described as ‘a soft-hearted, slow-witted deputy … a man with good intentions, but not the brightest card in the deck’.
This was a wonderful opportunity to practise a good ole’ boy, southern drawl, and if it went a bit over the top occasionally, it all contributed to the comic effect! Oh, and I also had to ‘drag up’ for a saloon bar scene, but I (intentionally, of course) made the most unconvincing saloon-bar girl (complete with feather boa) ever!
