Robert Drury and Philip Henderson

A real thriller this time, perhaps rarer these days than they used to be from the Society, but another well known author, probably better known as an actor, Francis Durbridge. Another extensive and strong cast of ‘old hands’ of varying ages, and it was an enjoyable opportunity for me to play two characters, but the crucial thing was that both lead characters had to look significantly similar, while still appearing to be demonstrably different men.

The story is that of the kidnapping of the son of successful actor Robert Drury, while on holiday in Italy with his father; the linchpin of the kidnapper’s plot is the identical appearance, bar a few superficial differences, of Philip Henderson to Drury. The plot is quite convoluted, and there is a real element of misdirection towards the end, but it finally becomes clear what is happening, and there is a positive resolution.
