Malcolm

Back to one of the stalwarts of British theatre, Alan Ayckbourn, for this one, which is ‘exactly what it says on the tin’: a farce set in a bedroom (or three bedrooms on the same set, to be correct)! Ayckbourn’s plays always focus on the pretensions of his characters for comic effect, and this one is no different. There is a couple for each bedroom, and a fourth couple, who circulate between the other three couples, ‘leaving chaos in their wake’.

I play long-suffering Malcolm who, with his wife Kate (Sarah Cox), is preparing a house-warming party. They seem like a very happy couple, and not averse to a practical joke, within reason. Unfortunately, Trevor (Ivan Hall) and Susannah (Louise Jamieson), the fourth couple, have also been invited, and their marital problems disrupt the party.
